Hands-on science will end with a blast on Friday, July 31, with Hamilton Sundstrand’s help during a special rocket launch event that culminates Space Cadets camp week at The Children’s Museum in West Hartford.
Space Cadets have spent the last few days working with mentors from Hamilton Sundstrand learning about planets, stars, asteroids and space exploration, as well as the basics of galaxies, rocket propulsion and gravity. Now the week will finish with a blast off!
Participating in the launch will be education leaders from The Children’s Museum, Kevin Sullivan, The Children’s Museum president and CEO, Matthew Bromberg, Hamilton Sundstrand vice president and general manager of Customer Service and member of the Board of Trustees for The Children’s Museum, space cadet campers, Hamilton Sundstrand volunteer mentors, and a host of visitors and friends.
The event takes place Friday, July 31 from 9:15 a.m. through 10 a.m. Approximately 25 summer vacation campers will launch the rockets they built with help from museum educators and Hamilton Sundstrand mentors.
The Children’s Museum is located at 950 Trout Brook Drive in West Hartford. The actual launch will take place on the Kingswood Oxford field adjacent to the museum parking lot.
