Collected Stories to Open at Playhouse on Park November 11th

Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc. announces the production of “Collected Stories” by Donald Margulies. Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, “Collected Stories” depicts the relationship between an established writer and her ambitious student who becomes a protégé, disciple, colleague, friend and rival. When the line between fact and fiction blurs, whose story is it anyway? Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies’ provocative play is witty, literate, intelligent and sensitive.

Actresses Willi Burke and Pearl Rhein bring their intriguing insights to this exploration of youth and age, time’s too-swift passage, love and loss and the stories we tell of both. Willi Burke has appeared in numerous Broadway, Off-Broadway and Regional productions as well as on tv and in film including: A Dolls Life & On the 20th Century directed by Harold Prince; I Do, I Do directed by Gower Campion; and on tv in Nurse Jackie and All My Children . Pearl Rhein recently moved east after appearing in Memphis and Assume The Position at the La Jolla Playhouse.

Through six scenes covering six years, the two women renegotiate their relationship’s shifting sand in an “engaging, witty and painful” play. “This is probably Margulies’ best play to date.” -NY Post.

“Collected Stories” runs November 12 – 30 at the Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, West Hartford. Tickets range from $20 – $32.50. A $15 preview is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th. Opening night, November 12th includes a complimentary wine and cheese. Student Rush tickets are offered (if space is available) 15 minutes prior to curtain for $10 with a valid student id. For further information please contact Playhouse on Park 860-523-5900 ext 10 or www.playhouseonpark.org

This production replaces the previously advertised production of “Three Tall Women” by Edward Albee, which will be produced in a future season.
