Linda Greenhouse, an award-winning journalist who, as a reporter for The New York Times, covered the United States Supreme Court for nearly three decades, will be presented with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at the University of Hartford’s annual Fall Commencement.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, December 6th at 2:30 p.m. at the University’s Lincoln Theater. Approximately 150 students will receive their degrees.

Greenhouse’s coverage of the high court earned her numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize for beat reporting in 1998, the American Political Science Association’s Carey McWilliams Award in 2002 for “a major journalistic contribution to our understanding of politics,” and the John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Annenberg School for Communication of University of Pennsylvania in 2004.

Also in 2004, Harvard’s Kennedy School honored her with the Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism. In 2008 the nonpartisan Constitution Project presented her with its annual award for constitutional commentary.
