Aiken Elementary PTO Hosts 2nd Annual International Night
The Aiken Elementary PTO is proud to celebrate our multicultural community at our Second Annual International Night to be held at Aiken Elementary, 212 King Philip Drive in West Hartford on February 11th from 5:30 to 8:00.
Last year’s event was an overwhelming success; approximately 350 members of our Aiken Community enjoyed learning about over 30 countries and watched 13 culturally significant performances.
This year Aiken families will again host booths representing their country of origin or heritage through the display of maps, photos, samples of foods, traditional dress, crafts and more.
International Night is a free event and open to all Aiken Families.
International Night will also mark the culmination of our “Hearts Across West Hartford for Haiti” Read-A-Thon. Aiken students participating in the Read-A-Thon pledge drive should turn in their sponsorships and total pages read by February 11th. Families may also bring donations to International Night. The funds will support the Connecticut Association of Schools state wide initiative to raise money to help rebuild schools, provide educational supplies as well as medicine and health care for children affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
