West Hartford Bank of America Branch Robbed, Suspect in Custody

Police responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of America branch at 1447 New Britain Avenue at approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon. Witnesses described a black Audi leaving the scene.

Police received information later in the afternoon that a possible suspect, 43 year old Edwin Bermudez, was in New Britain in the area of Alexander Road. New Britain Police went to the location and spotted the suspect standing next to the Audi. Bermudez was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit by New Britain police.

Bermudez is being held on a $500,000 bond. The arrest was a joint effort by the West Hartford, New Britain, and Farmington police departments.
