Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry’s March 23rd

From a press release:

On Tuesday, March 23, 2010, Ben & Jerry’s, located on South Main Street in West Hartford Center will be hosting the annual Free Cone Day. Along with other participating Ben & Jerry’s across the country, free cones will be given out between the hours of Noon and 8 PM.

Ben and Jerry’s has been giving away ice cream one day a year since 1979, and an estimated 1 million free scoops are served in eight hours across the country. This year, Ben & Jerry’s has chosen the Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia Research as its community partner for the event, and all tips and donations from the day will benefit the Foundation. Volunteers from the organization will be scooping the ice cream throughout the day.

Lea’s Foundation For Leukemia Research, Inc was established in 1998 to honor the memory of Lea Economos, who at age 28, fell victim to leukemia. It was her dying wish that others not face the hardship she encountered by finding a way to eliminate this terrible disease. Lea’s Foundation funds research into the causes of and cures for leukemia and its related cancers of lymphoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma and multiple myeloma. For more information, please visit
