Rep. Bye Exploring Run for State Senate

Senator Christopher Dodd’s decision to not seek re-election set a political shuffle in motion. State Senator Jonathan Harris announced that he is seeking the office of Secretary of the State now that current Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is seeking the office of Attorney General.

Should Harris continue his run, he won’t seek re-election. Representative Beth Bye is the first candidate to announce an interest in running for Harris’ seat.

Rep. Beth Bye Forms Exploratory Committee for State Senate

State Representative Beth Bye, a Democrat, has formed an exploratory committee for State Senate.

The move comes in response to State Senator Jonathan Harris’ announcement of his own exploratory committee for statewide office. You can watch our story on Harris’ announcement by clicking here.

In forming the exploratory committee, Bye said, “I have always worked to make a positive difference in our community. If there is an opportunity to continue this work in a different elected or appointed capacity, then I want to explore that opportunity. Friends and supporters have urged me to consider the State Senate, so I am doing just that.”

West Hartford Cyclists Rally at the Capitol – 5/13/09

May is national bike month, and this week is bike to work week. And if you can’t commit to the entire week, Friday is bike to work day.

Biking to work is a growing trend that benefits both personal health and the environment. Today cyclists, including some from West Hartford, rallied at the capitol to help make roads more bicycle friendly.
