West Hartford Parents Raising Funds for Safe Graduation Parties

Every year West Hartford parents host safe graduation parties for Conard and Hall seniors. It’s a tremendous undertaking and they need the community’s help to provide a safe celebration for the graduates.

“Once on This Island” Opens at Conard This Weekend

For more than 50 years the music program at Conard High School has brought sheet music to life, providing students with the chance to sing, dance and act in full stage productions.

This year is no exception. Conard’s production “Once on this Island” opens Friday night.

Showtimes are:
March 19 @ 7pm
March 20 @ 2 and 7pm
March 21 @ 2pm

Tickets
Adults: $10
Children: $5
(8th grade and under)

Conard Safe Graduation Teams with Local Restaurants for Fun and Great Food

Here are the first of many great food and fundraising events that will help us to keep the Class of 2010 Safe on graduation night!

The Prospect Café will run Conard day Wednesday March 10th. Owner Nick Faenza has pledged 10% of all food and drink sold on the 10th to the Conard Safe Grad 2010 Fund! The Prospect hosts Karaoke Night on Wednesday’s from 8pm – 12 Midnight. Nick says: “I hope to have some of the high school kids ready to sing here on March 10th after they enjoy a good meal with friends and family.”

We look forward to having a great crowd at the Prospect on March 10th! Please spread the word to family and friends to join the Conard Community and the Prospect Café in keeping our grads safe!

Carmine’s Pizza on New Britain Ave has generously offered to donate $1.50 from each large pizza and $1.00 from each small or medium pizza ordered from March 11th through June 10th. All you have to do is mention Conard when you place your order! Carmine encourages the students to stop in for Pizza with Mom and Dad, this is the perfect solution to those busy school nights! So stop for a pizza today!

Cosi on 970 Farmington Ave., West Hartford will sponsor a Conard Safe Grad 2010 fundraising event on Wednesday March 31st from 1:00 until 9:00 pm. The restaurant will donate 10% of Sales from to Conard Safe Grad 2010! Live music will perform during dinner hours inside the restaurant.

Conard Forum on Staying Safe in the Digital Age January 20th

Cyber Compass, an initiative of West Hartford educators and parents, is hosting a forum on safe communication in the digital age.

The Jan. 20 session, “Let Your Fingers Do the Talking: Sexting, Texting and Teens,” will feature Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and an interactive panel of experts to help parents and students navigate the social, legal, and technological impact of modern communication.

Geared toward both parents and teens, the forum will feature Cruger Phillips, executive director of HopeWorks; Conard High School Principal Tom Moore; Bristow Middle School Principal Andrew Morrow; attorney Anne Littlefield of Shipman & Goodwin; West Hartford Police Lt. Donald Melanson and student panelists

The forum will be held at Conard High School and will begin at 7 p.m. The snow date is Feb. 10.

Conard Football Off to a Spectacular Start

LocalOnlineNews.TV is pleased to present our new sports reporter Greg Gallivan!

The Conard Chieftains are currently undefeated this season, shutting out every one of their opponents so far this season. LocalOnlineNews.TV was there for the home game against Hartford Public on September 18th and under the lights when the team was away in Farmington September 25th. Conard defeated Bulkeley 42-0 on October 2nd, their third shutout so far this season.

The next game takes place at home on October 10th against South Windsor.

West Hartford High School Seniors Document Their Graduation

Conard graduate JT Weber (who we profiled earlier this spring) and Hall graduates Joseph Fierberg and Rob Kavaler borrowed our Flip cameras and agreed to document their entire graduation experience last week. They gave us so much great footage that we will be bringing you a three part series on the Conard and Hall graduations.

In this first installment, Fierberg, Kavaler, and Weber share their excitement for the future in the hours before their graduation ceremonies.

Safe Graduation Signs Sprouting Up on West Hartford Lawns – 6/9/09

Red signs, blue signs, which party do you support? These yard signs aren’t about politics, but they are about parties. Graduation parties.

Conard Lacrosse Player Going to Division 1

J.T. Weber is taking his talents to Division 1 college athletics. The lacrosse player, #15, was offered a scholarship and has signed a letter of intent to play at Providence College next year.

Providence will see changes in their conference for the upcoming season. They have joined the Big East for the first year of conference lacrosse play.

The NCAA lacrosse final four will be played this weekend in Foxboro.
