Playhouse Theatre Group Hosts Open Audition Call for Equus

WEST HARTFORD, CT – Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc is seeking non-equity actors for the
upcoming production of Equus by Peter Shaffer. The play tells the story of a psychiatrist, confronted
by a patient who has blinded six horses in a violent fit of passion. To the boy’s parents, it is a hideous
mystery; to the psychiatrist, it is a psychological puzzle that leads both doctor and patient to a
complex and disturbingly dramatic confrontation. The production is being directed by Robert Davis.
The parts available are as follows:

Frank Strang: Male, 40s-50s. British working class, conservative. Authoritarian and
outspoken. Passionate and demanding. Old-style Socialist. Relentlessly self-improving.

Dora Strang: Female, 40s-50s. Former school teacher, British middle class. Smart and
intuitive but often reserved and submissive.



Harry Dalton: Male, 40s-50s, stable owner. No-nonsense but cheerful.

Auditions will be held by appointment July 26th, at Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, West
Hartford CT 06119.

Rehearsals begin September 13th, 2010, and the show will run October 6 – 13 and will take

Broadway’s Carey Anderson and Jeff Scot Carey to Star in Last Five Years at Playhouse on Park June 16th – 28th

West Hartford, CT – The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown is the next scheduled production in Playhouse on Park’s Professional Guest Artist Series.

In this personal and intimate musical, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Songs for a New World, Thirteen) takes the conventions of Broadway and sends them spinning into the 21st century. Brown uses his wit and insight to tell a contemporary story of a relationship between a writer and an actress falling in and out of love and told from both points of view. Sure to tug at the heart strings of anyone who has ever been in love! Directed by Kyle Fabel; music under the direction of Hartt School Alumni Colin Britt. The Last Five Years will feature the amazing talent of Carey Anderson and Jeff Scot Carey.

Carey Anderson has most recently been seen on Broadway as Kate Monster/Lucy T. Slut in Avenue Q and as Sophie in Mamma Mia. Auditions for Paolillo’s “The Lost Boy” at Playhouse on Park

WEST HARTFORD, CT – Auditions will be held, by appointment only, on Saturday, March 13th from 10am through 2:00pm. The director is seeking an actor for the non-equity role of Davie Barrie/Peter Pan (Margaret’s other son of thirteen who also plays PETER PAN). This versatile role can be played by a 16 – 25 year old. Must be energetic, adventurous, athletic but slim and no taller than 5’9″. Must convey a sense of innocence, inquisitiveness and inner strength. As Davey, the actor must be able to do an authentic Scottish Accent. As Peter Pan accent is American English. The Lost Boy exposes the bittersweet tragedy of James M. Barrie that evolves into a priceless literary gift to the world. Paolillo’s well-crafted story explores the psyche of James M. Barrie as he creates the little boy who would not grow up; interweaving two divergent tales as Peter Pan’s story mirrors the creator’s own. Performances are scheduled July 28th – August 8th.

Award winning actor Ron Paolillo is best known for his role as Arnold Horshack from television’s “Welcome Back Kotter”. Ron, now a successful playwright, is a Connecticut native. He will star as the character of James Barrie.

Playhouse on Park Announces Open Auditions for the New England Premiere of Trapezium

Trapezium is a 5 character farce based on the legend of Tristan and Iseult. The story is told in three versions as the characters try to figure out their true history. A hilarious madcap Arthurian Rashomon ensues. Playhouse theatre group is seeking 3 men (ages 20 through 50) and 2 women (ages 18 through 30’s).

Open auditions will be held at Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, West Hartford, CT on Wednesday, February 17th from 11:00am – 3:00pm. Actors should bring a recent head shot and resume and prepare an appropriate side. Character breakdowns and sides are available on the website at www.playhouseonpark.org.

Rehearsals begin Monday, March 15th in NYC and move to CT April 1st. Performances are scheduled April 7th through the 18th at Playhouse on Park. Trapezium was written by NY Times and Boston Globe crossword puzzle writer Henry Rathvon and will be Directed by Drama Desk Award Winner Russell Treyz.

Playhouse on Park to Hold Open Auditions for Stuart Little

The production will be directed by Melissa Anderson and run at Playhouse on Park February 27th through March 7th (including some weekday mornings). Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge opens at Playhouse on Park with a preview on December 9th, with opening night on the 10th. The play runs through Dec. 20. The play stars many familiar West Hartford faces!

Six Local Dance Companies to Perform at Playhouse on Park

Six local dance companies come together to perform in a benefit concert at and for Playhouse on Park. “Danceucopia” is scheduled Saturday, November 28th for two performances only: 2:00pm and 8:00pm.

Dance Companies scheduled to perform include DancEnlight, EQuilibrium Dance Theatre, Full Force Dance Theatre, Rhythm Rousers/Stardust Dancers, Spectrum in Motion, and stop/time dance theatre – Playhouse on Park’s dance company in residence.

The performance will be hosted by dance improviser Bonita Weisman. Tickets are $25 for adults and $22.50 for seniors, students and Let’s Go Arts Members. All seats are reserved, the Playhouse recommends that you purchase your tickets early.

The evening performance will include an open dance jam immediately following the performance as well as a cash bar (beer/wine) courtesy of The Prospect Café. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Movie credits include Blood Descendants. Howie Mason (Emcee) has performed for audiences all over the Northeast including appearances at Foxwoods and Catch a Rishing Star. He recently opened for Dom Irrera and Jimmie “JJ” Walker. West Hartford’s own Linda Belt has performed in NYC at Caroline’s Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club and Headlined “Broads of Broadway” at the Laugh Factory. Linda has also appeared at the Boston Comedy Festival and the Detroit Comedy Festival.
